The day started early for the technicians and lab owners attending the 8th Annual Dental Laboratory Owners Association of California CAD/CAM Expo & Symposium, but the sizable crowd was in store for a day packed with details on the latest in dental lab technology and opportunities to meet with the range of companies selling scanners, mills, materials and associated products.

CAD/CAM technology has made plenty of headway in the dental industry and computer-designed crowns are certainly nothing new, but now researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden are working on a system for computer design of preps as well.

  Among all the nominations that came in for this year’s Office Manager of the Year Award, Robyn Rossetter stood out most. She was named the 2011 Office Manager of the Year on Friday afternoon, and 2010’s winner, Melissa Meredith of Central Arkansas Dental Associates, presented her with the award. “This is another great privilege, to be able to pass this experience to another hardworking individual in the profession,” Meredith said.
