Delcam will launch major upgrades of its software for the design and manufacture of dental implant restorations with the release of the 2012 versions of its DentCAD and DentMILL programs. DentCAD can accept data from all leading dental scanning systems and output designs to any machining software, while DentMILL can take models from most dental design systems and generate toolpaths for a wide range of machine tools. Committed to driving the adoption of “open” systems in which manufacturers can combine their own choice of equipment and software, and then use a broad variety of materials, Delcam offers a complete, open implantology solution, which includes the capabilities to accurately capture the implant position and orientation, through to the high-precision, multi-axis milling of customized abutments, implant bridges and dental bars. Regardless of the restoration type, scanning can be done by using Delcam DentSCAN or iMetric scanners or a combination, and a management system is available to track every stage of the process.

DentCAD 2012 Features

  • Introduction of a higher-definition method for modeling, providing much better representation of fine details such as cusps and fissures, and allowing a closer match to the surrounding teeth to be modeled

  • The extensive and realistic library of standard tooth designs feature designs closer to real teeth that require less editing to produce a final modelImproved dental bar design to give more control over the shape of profile sections of the bar and to make it easier to incorporate full custom abutments within the bar

DentMILL 2012 Features

  • Improved integration into the DentCAD workflow, including the introduction of a new interface with bolder and clearer icons, a reduced number of toolbars and more screen space for toolpath generation and simulation

  • Flexible nesting tools to position restorations within the block, and newly added part-to-part pinning

  • DentMILL benefits from enhancements to the latest version of PowerMILL, Delcam’s powerful advanced manufacturing software largely used in aerospace and automotive industries
