Dr. Fred S. Margolis explains how Filtek™ Bulk Fill Flowable Restorative meets the esthetic needs of all patients.

Dr. Fred S. Margolis explains how Filtek™ Bulk Fill Flowable Restorative meets the esthetic needs of all patients.

I have used Filtek™ Bulk Fill Flowable Restorative and found it to be a fast and easy solution for bulk fill liner/base applications in both the anterior and posterior regions.

Offering more than twice the wear resistance of leading bulk fills, this product has provided me with a dependable bulk fill flowable that I know will deliver long term results.

Additionally, Filtek Bulk Fill flowable has been found to be up to 50% stronger than similar competitive products-with higher compressive and diametral tensile strength.

This material can be placed in one 4 mm increment, thus eliminating the time-consuming steps of layering the composite in small increments-which has saved me tedious steps and valuable chair time. Even with this traditional layering technique eliminated, Filtek Bulk Fill flowable provides less shrinkage stress than other traditional flowables. Because this product is a flowable, it adapts easily, eliminating the opportunity for voids and providing a strong marginal seal.

Additionally, we all know just how important esthetics are becoming to patients. At times, more concern is expressed for final appearance versus the cost or time of the procedure, continuously driving market demand for esthetically pleasing restorations. Filtek Bulk Fill restorations are highly polishable, smooth and lustrous with high radiopacity-meeting the esthetic needs of all patients.

3M™ ESPE™ Filtek™ Bulk Fill Flowable Restorative

3M™ ESPE™ Filtek™ Bulk Fill Flowable Restorative is a bulk fill flowable that dentists can trust because of its high strength and wear resistance.

Recommended for bulk fill liner/base applications, Filtek Bulk Fill composite helps dentists save time and steps. Its flowable viscosity provides good adaptation, and its 4 mm depth of cure reduces the need to incrementally layer restorative material. It also offers better wear resistance than other leading bulk fill flowables, while maintaining low stress and shrinkage. Most importantly, Filtek Bulk Fill flowable restorative offers higher compressive and diametral tensile strength than competitors, so dentists can feel confident placing it as a bulk fill composite.

Filtek Bulk Fill flowable is easy to use with both capsule and syringe delivery options, as well as availability in four shades-Universal, A1, A2 and A3. The capsules, syringe tips and plungers are designed in a bright orange color for easy and quick identification in the operatory.

Q&A with Drew Hoopes, Marketing Manager at 3M ESPE

Q: What is the most frequent question you hear from dental professionals about this category?

A: Speed and simplicity are the primary motivations for most dentists who use bulk fill composites. At the same time, dentists want to feel confident that they are still delivering high quality care. Bulk placement of composite can be a significant time saver, but dentists do not want to compromise on completeness of cure, shrinkage stress and strength. We heard from our customers that they wanted a bulk fill material they could trust to last.

Q: How does your product specifically seek to answer that question?

A: 3M™ ESPE™ Filtek™ Bulk Fill Flowable Restorative helps save time and steps, and is up to 50 percent stronger than other bulk fill flowable materials, with nearly twice the wear resistance. The material has a 4 mm depth of cure, which reduces the need to incrementally layer restorative material. Its flowable viscosity provides easy adaptation, but isn’t so fluid that it will flow out of place before it can be cured.

Q: W hat about this product category do you think helps the dentist practice better clinical dentistry?

A: Seventy percent of restorations occur in the posterior region. With a reliable bulk fill flowable that adapts easily, dentists can quickly place posterior restorations while reducing the chance for voids, providing a good marginal seal, and giving the patient a strong restoration that will last.

Q: How is your company or product leading the way for innovation in this category?

A: 3M ESPE is one of the most trusted innovators of restorative solutions, and we are proud to add this product to our Filtek™ family. With higher compressive strength and better wear resistance than leading competitors, this is the only bulk fill flowable strong enough to be called Filtek.
