Q: Dr. Westfall, you have experience with other dental software packages. Why did you choose XLDent™?
AW: Our office chose XLDent after much due diligence in researching other available software options. We were forced to upgrade from our beloved Dental.com after it was no longer supported and could not give us the fully digital solution we desired. We flirted with one of the big three dental software providers and found it to be clunky and divisive in common shared tasks for our clinical and front desk staff. Every office struggles to transition from the old to the new in whatever change is occurring, but XLDent offered us the easiest, smoothest way to tackle the challenge of going chartless. They offer a comprehensive set of well integrated products that answered all our needs.

Q: You are taking advantage of the mobile aspects of XLDent™ and Tablet PC’s in the clinical setting. How has this helped you improve workflows throughout the office?
AW: Being prepared before we even see a patient is huge! Having the ability to put my hands on a Motion tablet and preview the chart and radiographs before I go in to see any patient in the office is a time saver. Any staff within the office can access a chart without going on a hunt from room to room. With the XLNotify my office manager can keep me in the loop instantly about phone calls or scheduling changes and my hygienists inform me ahead of their exams about patient conditions that require extra attention.

Q: Why did you decide to implement XLDent™’s Patient Portal?
AW: We’ve had many requests for online services. Implementing the Patient Portal is beneficial to our practice, as patients are thrilled to have access to upcoming appointments, view account balances and the ability to make payments online.

Q: How has the integrated ePrescription service helped you provide better patient care?
AW: We can easily look up presciption history, quickly locate a preferred pharmacy and instantly receive verification that the prescription has been sent. Patients receive prompt service and are usually able to pick up medications on the way home from the office.

Q: What do you and your staff like best about the XLCheckIn™?
AW: It has simplified the arrival process. The use of intelligent forms software, which queues up any documents needed to complete a patient chart, ensures that our patient records are up to date and HIPAA compliant, helping you to streamline your processes.

Q: In closing, how has XLDent™ helped you improve patient experiences?
AW: We want to exceed our patients’ expectations. XLDent allows us to spend our time worrying about patient needs without technology getting in the way. XLDent as a family company has exceeded our expectations and has  been nothing short of responsive and kind to myself and my staff.
