The FDA-registered Restful Jaw device is said to be clinically proven to help support the patient’s jaw while minimizing jaw pain, fatigue and soreness during dental procedures.

As a result, patients and dentists can expect shorter treatment times because patients do not need to take breaks or terminate procedure due to discomfort.

Dr. Eric Shiffman, DDS, MS, an expert in TMD diagnosis and treatment, invented Restful Jaw to help prevent dental procedures from causing TMD or exacerbating a patient’s existing jaw conditions.

“During my 30-plus years of treating patients with TMD, I continuously hear how they fear and avoid their regular dental appointments, let alone any extra treatment, in an effort to limit pain,” said Dr. Schiffman. “Dentists can attest to how difficult and time consuming it is to treat patients who experience jaw pain during and after dental treatments – which is why I was driven to develop a solution.”

The external device is designed to be easily and quickly fitted on most adult patients, and supports the patient’s jaw in the open mouth position with a memory foam cushion – meaning patients do not have to tense their jaw muscle to hold their mouth open.  Also, the device does not interfere with dental work and does not block access to the patient’s airway.
