The editors of Dental Products Report share a look at the top 10 innovative technology products that went on the market within the last year.
Technology has been one of the most notable areas of advancement in modern dentistry. A continuous cycle of new and emerging technologies has enabled clinicians to offer single-day dentistry, reduce pain and increase patient comfort, and perform procedures with more precision than ever before.
Throughout 2021, practices continued to adjust to a world where the risk of COVID-19 was potentially around every corner. Yet technological growth never wavered. This year, the industry saw advancements in x-ray technology, intraoral scanners, and curing lights, to name a few. These technologies and more make up our top 10 technology products of 2021.
The Medit i700 is the next-generation intraoral scanner with the ability to capture up to 70 frames per second. The i700 can collect data with each pass, resulting in a smooth and quick scanning experience with realistic colors and a crisp image. The camera and components have been reduced in size to create a lighter handpiece that weighs 245 g (8.64 oz). The redesigned tips are now reversible and autoclavable up to 100 times. The cable is also now detachable for easy maintenance and portability.
Monet Laser Curing Light
Described as the world’s first handheld laser dental curing light, the Monet™ uses advanced laser engineering to provide fast and reliable curing of dental materials. The light is capable of curing to a depth of 8 mm in a 3-second cure cycle with a collimated 12-mm diameter beam that does not lose intensity as it is moved farther away from the material. Aperture attachments provide attenuation of the light intensity and offer the ability to use focused beam sizes of 2, 4, or 6 mm in diameter. Cordless with rechargeable batteries, it also features a rotatable head.
