Mandate requires all Mississippi dental practices to have an AED in the office
March 30th 2012The Mississippi Dental Board now requires all dental offices in Mississippi to have an automated external defibrillator (AED) onsite. This mandate deadline date is July 1, 2012. The regulation also requires that all licensed dentists and dental hygienists licensed by the State of Mississippi maintain a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Mother says dentists pulled son's teeth without consent
March 26th 2012A California mother is irate because she says although her nine-year-old son takes part in the Big Smiles Program, she never signed the extraction consent form before her son's teeth were pulled at school. Alexander Henry had four teeth pulled as part of the Big Smiles Program that is contracted by the San Diego Unified School District. The program provides free dental care to hundreds of local children.
Dr. Thomas Hoyt, DPR founder, passed away

Dr. Hoyt passed away this week, on March 21, 2012. As the original visionary and publisher behind DPR, Dr. Hoyt utilized his experience as a dentist - he graduated from Loyola Dental School in Chicago in 1953 - to determine best practices for meeting the information needs of his peers.
