Author | John C. Mitchell, PhD

Dr. Mitchell earned his PhD from The Ohio State University in 1999, in the dual fields of Tissue Engineering & Implant Biomaterials Science. In 2001, he joined the Oregon Health & Science University as an Assistant Professor, holding appointments in Restorative Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Biomedical Engineering, and in the School of Medicine. Tenured as an Associate Professor in 2006, he became Professor and Director of Research in 2012. Dr. Mitchell joined Midwestern in 2013 as the Director of Dental Biomaterials Research, and was tenured and promoted to Assistant Dean for Research in 2016. He has been the advisor/mentor for over 150 student and resident researchers, many of whom have won awards. He helped establish the MWU Dental Student Research Group and serves as their Faculty Advisor.
