Guy G. Levy, DDS is a general dentist in Yorktown, Va. At his  restorative and family dental practice, Levy Dental Group, he aims to provide compassionate and cutting-edge care. I recently spoke with Dr. Levy about the benefits of the Demi Ultra LED curing light and why he recommends it.

How did you become interested in using the Demi Ultra?

When the life cycle of my previous curing light was coming to an end, I reviewed the newest curing lights. Although I was happy with my previous curing light, I was impressed by the technology and ergonomic design the Demi Ultra offered. So, I contacted my Kerr representative who immediately brought a trial one to my office.

What are the best benefits of the Demi Ultra?

I really love the convenience and the ergonomic design of the Demi Ultra. It is lightweight and cordless, which is great. Plus, the length of the neck is narrow, which makes it convenient for positioning it in pretty much any location in the mouth. In addition to being well designed, the Demi Ultra has a very easy-to-use toggle that makes switching between curing intervals simple.

One of the best features that sets this curing light apart from my previous light is there is no heat created, which may cause patient discomfort and pulpal irritation while curing larger restorations. Another appealing feature is it only takes 30 seconds to recharge.

What does your staff have to say about the Demi Ultra?

My staff enjoys using the Demi Ultra because of its simplicity. Kerr offers cover sleeves for the Demi Ultra that are well fitted and easily positioned.

We always use the sleeves, as recent research has heightened the significant loss of curing power when the lens becomes obscured by bonding agents and other materials. For those practices that routinely use cover sleeves, a sleeve that can be efficiently placed and does not tear or slip off too easily is very much appreciated. Kerr provides such a cover sleeve for the Demi Ultra.

Why would you recommend the Demi Ultra to your colleagues?

For dentists interested in upgrading their curing lights, I would recommend trying the Demi Ultra. The Demi Ultra is ergonomically well designed and I have found it to be  a good investment. As dentists, the last thing we want to do is buy something that will sit on a shelf.

In addition to having a great product, the representatives from Kerr Dental are outstanding  to work with. They are always responsive and supportive. We use other Kerr products in our practice and any time there is a question or problem, our representative is like Superman and here in a second. I have been extremely satisfied and impressed by the Demi Ultra, and it has my recommendation for any practice.
