Hu-Friedy and EMS partner to deliver high-quality hand instruments and Piezo power scaling and air polishing products
Hu-Friedy and Switzerland-based Electro Medical Systems (EMS) have announced a strategic alliance in an effort to deliver the most clinically-advanced prophylaxis protocol to the U.S. and Canadian dental markets with Hu-Friedy’s high-quality hand instruments and EMS offerings in Piezo power scaling and air polishing.
Hu-Friedy and Switzerland-based Electro Medical Systems (EMS) have announced a strategic alliance in an effort to deliver the most clinically-advanced prophylaxis protocol to the U.S. and Canadian dental markets with Hu-Friedy’s high-quality hand instruments and EMS offerings in Piezo power scaling and air polishing.
Hu-Friedy is now the exclusive U.S. and Canadian distributor of EMS Piezon power scaling technology, as well as AIR-FLOW air polishing products. According to Hu-Friedy, by combining these technologies with Hu-Friedy’s line of hand scaling instruments, clinicians will have access to the most comprehensive prophylaxis treatment methods.
In addition to the distribution perks, Hu-Friedy says the alliance will also extend into other areas including clinical education, evidence-based research and Key Opinion Leader partnerships.

The Hu-Friedy EMS Piezon power scaling products combine the precision of piezo technology, uniform power output and ergonomics in four devices. These products can be used in the most difficult or sensitive cases, including sub-gingival fine scaling, implant maintenance, and endodontic treatment.
The Hu-Friedy EMS AIR-FLOW family of air polishing products delivers an advanced and effective method for supra and sub-gingival biofilm and stain removal. When used subgingivally, the AIR-FLOW devices and powders can reduce periodontal pocket depth, remove biofilm and help prevent perio-implant diseases.
Power equipment and accessories included in this agreement include the following: Piezon 250 scaler, Piezon 150 scaler, Piezon Master 700 scaler, AIR-FLOW Master, AIR-FLOW Master Piezon combination unti, AIR-FLOW S2 combination unit, AIR-FLOW S1 air polishing unit, AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 air polishing unit, AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 PERIO air polishing unit, AIR-FLOW air polishing powders and piezon tips.
Hu-Friedy will introduce multiple AIR-FLOW and Piezon products throughout the year, with the full product suite available by year end.
