200 active certified dental laboratories (CDLs) The National Board for Certification (NBC) also reports that it had over 5500 active certified dental technicians (CDTs) and 350 recognized graduates (RG).

125 years in business is the milestone achieved by Sterngold in 2022. Other companies celebrating notable anniversaries this year were Pulpdent, which marked 75 years since its founding; Keating Dental Lab, which celebrated 20 years in business; Panthera Dental, which marked 10 years; and Carestream Dental, which noted the fifth anniversary of its spinoff from Carestream Health.
65.8% of people in the US have a dental restoration. Each case represents an act of service, carefully planned and thoughtfully executed by a dental technician or CDT, according to the National Institutes of Health.
6 specialties are currently recognized by the NBC: ceramics, complete dentures, crown and bridge, orthodontics, partial dentures, and implants. To become a CDT, a technician must demonstrate knowledge and applied skills in the chosen specialty.
