Pulpdent’s ACTIVA BioACTIVE has received the international 2014 Dental Excellence Award for the best new restorative material from DrBicuspid.com, the UK-based Internet resource for the dental industry.

The DrBicuspid.com awards highlight the world’s very best in people, products and services that improve the dental industry and dental care. ACTIVA won out over all other products introduced in 2014.

ACTIVA was developed in Pulpdent’s research laboratories and is manufactured by Pulpdent in Watertown, Mass. ACTIVA BioACTIVE products are said to be the first bioactive restoratives and base/liners that deliver all the advantages of glass ionomers in a strong, resilient, resin matrix that will not chip or crumble. ACTIVA is designed to be more durable and fracture resistant than composites, chemically bonds to teeth and releases more fluoride and is more bioactive than glass ionomers.

Pulpdent Double Take: " ... I was very excited and adopted it immediately."

ACTIVA reportedly is the first ionic restorative with a bioactive resin matrix, a shock-absorbing resin component and bioactive glass fillers that mimic the physical and chemical properties of natural teeth. It releases and recharges with calcium, phosphate and fluoride ions, which is said to deliver long-term benefits and better oral health care for your patients.

ACTIVA contains no Bisphenol A, Bis-GMA or BPA derivatives.

ACTIVA BioACTIVE-RESTORATIVE and BASE/LINER are two-part, light cure and self-cure materials packaged in 5mL, double barrel, automix syringes. The restorative is available in A1, A2, A3 and A3.5 shades, and the base/liner is dentin shade.
