The Lab Anderson Dental Studio is a 10 man lab located in Edina, Minn. It was started by Ken Anderson more than 50 years ago and its legacy has been preserved through his children who have continued to operate the lab with the same quality and ethical standards that their father had set many years ago. Being a small family business, owner Al Anderson respects and tries to patronize businesses such as his own. This is one of the several reasons he was so happy when he was introduced to IBEX Dental Technologies at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting in February 2011.

Being a small family business, owner Al Anderson respects and tries to patronize businesses such as his own. This is one of the several reasons he was so happy when he was introduced to IBEX Dental Technologies at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting in February 2011.

The Product

The Summit Press is a combination pressing and firing furnace with features that let you focus on your work-not your oven. Designed specifically to press e.max® material, the user-friendly intuitive design helps deliver all the quality and reliability of the high-end import furnaces, but at a lower cost. Its features include: Radiance Ring™ technology, pressing and firing capabilities, advanced electronics, all touch-screen operation, a firing tray that helps materials reach optimum viscosity, ability to edit parameters “on the fly” mid-program, a rapid cooling fan and a USB port.

The Results

The main purchase Anderson Dental Studio was hoping to secure was a pressing oven because its e.max business had soared over the past several months. They considered an option from another manufacturer, but that particular oven would require a considerable business expense.  Thinking of his past experience with lab equipment, Anderson stopped at Garland Dental Services’ booth (a national lab equipment repair center) to ask them which ovens had the least amount of repairs. At that time they walked him over and introduced him to Daniel Serrago and Jim Emmons, CDT, of IBEX.

After purchasing the oven Anderson  encountered some problems with short presses and after some failed trouble shooting phone conversations, both Serrago and Emmons flew to Edina to work on the oven themselves.

“This is the kind of personalized, quality service that you rarely find, and when you do you will usually find a family business behind it,” he said. “The problem was easily diagnosed when they found that it worked perfectly with disposable plungers, which we had not been using. Using all factory original program parameters, the oven has worked perfectly ever since and has pressed well over 500 units and counting!”

The lab found the oven was less than half the cost of competitors’ models, yet it, “delivered the same results and unmatched personalized service.”

Anderson has had many lab owners call and inquire about the Summit oven to get his feedback.

“It is a pleasure to be able to recommend a product that is fairly priced in the market, produces a quality product and has the customer service to stand behind it,” he said. “I welcome these calls and love sharing my experience with other lab owners seeking an affordable pressing oven.”
