Hi, I'm Dr John Flucke. I'm Technology Editor and Chief Dental Editor here at Dental Products Report. And today, I want to spend a couple of minutes talking to you about something that is really important to your practice; the hygiene team. Over the years as a patient, you know spends time in your practice, oftentimes, they spend a lot more time with your hygienist and your hygiene team than they do with the doctor. So it's important to make that hygiene experience as beneficial as possible to the patient. And it's also important to keep the hygienist efficient, and using good quality instrumentation. And today, I want to talk to you about an ultrasonic device that allows you to do just that. And it is the TurboSensor+ ultrasonic from Parkell.

It's a phenomenal unit for a very, very fair price, and I'd like to just kind of show you some of the benefits. One of the things that I really like is these faceplates. You can get them in different colors, and you can get them in white, you can get them in orange, and there are others. But it's kind of a neat thing to do to sort of personalize the unit in a room. Or if you're trying to keep track of you've got multiple units, it's almost easier to identify the purple or whatever this situation happens to be. So I love that fun little thing.

But it's a very simple system to operate, you turn the power on, you get the little power LED, you got a water adjustment and a power adjustment, and that's really all you've got. You sit down, you go to work, and it just works. It also, in the back, this is where the water connection is, and it comes with an extended hose with a quick disconnect, and this little disc is a pretty neat little thing because it's a filtration unit. So you keep an eye on this, and when this turns dark, then you know that you need to change it and they're easy to swap out and change. And the quick disconnect aspect of it is quick and easy to plug into your water connection.

It's small, it doesn't take up a lot of space on your countertop. This one is so small, you could pick it up and move it from room to room if you need to. It's no big deal at all. One of the other things that's nice, is it's got these autoclavable handpieces. When you go to set up, you simply pop that on twist it locks on. And then you put your insert in here. And it does take 30 kilohertz inserts. And I have six hygienists on staff in my office, and all of them liked the feel of this, and they really liked the way it's balanced the way it works.

One of the other really nice features is the turbo function. What's really nice is if you push the pedal hard, it automatically jumps the power up. So you can be working along in the mouth come across a little area of tenacious calculus, you don't take your eyes off the target, you simply press harder on the pedal, it gives you a boost in power, you knock off whatever that happens to be, cement, calculus, whatever, and the minute you want to go back to normal power, you simply release the pedal for a second and it goes back down to the setting that you had it on before. So it's a quick, efficient way of dialing up the power when you need it, and it's ergonomic because it doesn't require you to twist, turn, do all those adjustments.

We've been test driving the TurboSensor+ in my practice now for the past 2 or 3 months, everybody likes it. I've got nothing but rave reviews about it. And the best part is it works and it's affordable. So if you're in the market for an ultrasonic scaler for your office, I really think you owe it to yourself to look at the Parkell website or give them a call. Check out this device and put it on that shortlist of products that you really want to make sure that you have in the hands of your hygiene team. I think you'll be happy that you did. I'm Dr John Flucke. Thank you for watching.
