Using 3M’s Esthetic Restoration Solution system with great results

Article

Precision and simplicity have always been two important cornerstones of Dr. James Braun's practice both of which are enhanced when he uses 3M’s Filtek™ Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative and the Sof-Lex™ Diamond Polishing System. I have run a full-time private practice specializing in prosthodontics in Saginaw, Michigan for more than 30 years, where I have been exposed to a wide variety of brands and tools. These 3M products have made an incredible difference in everything from performing the procedures to the final outcome for my patients.

Precision and simplicity have always been two important cornerstones of my practice both of which are enhanced when I use 3M’s Filtek™ Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative and the Sof-Lex™ Diamond Polishing System.

I have run a full-time private practice specializing in prosthodontics in Saginaw, Michigan for more than 30 years, where I have been exposed to a wide variety of brands and tools. These 3M products have made an incredible difference in everything from performing the procedures to the final outcome for my patients.

Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative

I first began using Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative once it was initially introduced into the market a few years ago and I have continued using it after being thrilled with the results. I have many favorite features of this product, including everything from the handling characteristics and overall functionality to the wide variety of color options and incredible polish retention. It is remarkable to see the extremely low wear rate of the Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative; specifically at recall appointments, I am continually amazed at how well the restorations are holding up. It maintains a really high polish and looks good even after patients have been functioning on it for years and years it really is an impressive product.

Not only does Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative create strong composites but it also produces beautifully esthetic results that give my patients a sense of confidence and pride in their smile. The system has such a wide range of colors and opacities available that I am consistently able to perfectly blend the product into a single body shade to exactly match each unique patient’s existing teeth. It is a really complete system; the options are incredible when it comes to various dental, enamel and modifier shades. I truly believe this product is unique in the composite class because not only am I able to create the perfect shades of color for the teeth, but there is also a special element in the material that adds sparkle and brilliance to the end result.

Sof-Lex™ Diamond Polishing System

Along with 3M’s Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative, I also use the new Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing System to enhance the positive esthetic results. The polishing system and Filtek Supreme Ultra

Universal Restorative are designed to work together by maximizing the nanocomposite technology, which results in restorations that achieve and maintain a high gloss. I have been truly amazed with the results I have seen since incorporating the Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing system into my practice. The configuration that 3M has developed with the new upgraded system is extraordinary; the small extensions arising from the main base of the spirals and the overall flexibility of the brushes allows you to get into any inner-spatial area that would be difficult to reach otherwise. Additionally, the spiral polish wheels consist of two components: a pre-polish spiral that prepares the restoration for final gloss and the second polish brush that is impregnated with diamond particles to give the restorations an overall long-lasting gloss. This one system does it all no matter what type of restoration is being placed and the end result is a truly beautiful gloss covering the entire tooth.

In order to maintain synergy between all of the different products that I use, I am a strong advocate of working with the same company across all of the devices. 3M is both a trusted name and unique in their field so I use solely 3M products in my practice; including all of the Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative products, Scotchbond™ Universal Adhesive, Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing System and their Elipar™ DeepCure-S LED Curing Light. After switching over to exclusively 3M products, I genuinely appreciate how smoothly my practice has run. I have one kit with all of the different choices available that allows everyone on the staff to become comfortable using these same materials day in and day out until it becomes a seamless operation and there is a successful outcome every single time.

Conclusion

3M’s Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative and the Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing System are easy for my entire staff to use, have simplified the overall restoration process and are satisfying to my patients. I plan to continue to use the full Esthetic Restoration Solution system for many years to come because it is effortless to use and delivers remarkable results for everyone involved.
