Tips for hiring in the dental practice

Article

Hiring is never an easy task, but Lisa Marie Spradley believes it’s one of the most important ones that any dental practice will go through.

When it comes to hiring someone to fill a position in a dental practice, it can be one of the biggest decisions a dentist and/or office manager will make. After all, a good hire will make days much easier and the practice more productive and cohesive. A bad hire means time and energy taken away from focusing on the business of the practice in order to fix problem after problem after problem.

Lisa Marie Spradley, also known as “the Front Desk Lady,” admits she has made some hiring mistakes in the past. Armed with that knowledge and real-life experience, she sat down with me for an exclusive video and shared some of the tips that have helped her the most through the years.

Hiring is never an easy task, but Spradley believes it’s one of the most important ones that any practice will go through.

“You hope that someone who applies for a position at your practice has done some homework and knows some things about how you run your business,” Spradley said. “If they check out your Web site, they can talk to you about your team retreats or that they saw you had a CEREC in your practice. If they come in and tell you they are applying for a position simply because they need a job, that’s really not good enough.”
