Dream Dental from Paperplane Therapeutics

Dream Dental

Paperplane Therapeutics introduces the Dream Dental virtual reality (VR) solution, a new platform designed to address patient anxiety and pain while minimizing treatment disruptions. Specifically designed for dental practitioners, the platform immerses patients in VR games or puzzles through a headset, redirecting their focus from treatment-related fears and discomfort. The custom-designed VR platform offers a unique feature that encourages patients to remain still by shrinking the virtual environment when the patient's head moves. Clinicians manage the VR experience via an iPad, observing patient perspectives and maintaining control. The VR headset facilitates communication through audio and a built-in camera, enhancing patient comfort throughout the entire appointment. Tailored for pediatric patients, the platform incorporates handheld controls and eye-tracking technology for engaging, interactive experiences that patients can enjoy while remaining still.

Carestream Dental & Swissmeda

In a new collaboration, Carestream Dental and Swissmeda have introduced a cutting-edge cloud imaging solution that transforms dental practices by seamlessly synchronizing imaging across their entire business. This innovative subscription service, Swissmeda Cloud Imaging, securely stores Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scans and 2D x-rays in the cloud, providing a comprehensive and efficient solution for dental professionals, according to a press release. The Swissmeda Cloud Imaging solution is said to seamlessly integrate with Carestream Dental's imaging and clinical software portfolios, enabling doctors to turn the Carestream Dental systems that they already own—such as the CS 9600 or CS 8200 3D—into cloud-connected devices. Swissmeda Cloud Imaging automatically uploads all new X-rays and 3D scans to the cloud. The user-friendly browser-based viewer, Swissmeda Cloud Imaging Viewer, allows convenient online access with minimal training required. Practitioners can view images from anywhere and, with CS Imaging software, conduct exams in one practice and review results in another. The solution eliminates the need to attach large image files or download a separate viewer when sharing images with third parties or referrals. Instead, practitioners can easily share the image and Swissmeda Cloud Imaging Viewer through a link. All images are automatically uploaded and stored securely in compliance with HIPAA regulations, addressing concerns about local server outages or maintenance interfering with patient care. This ensures added convenience and peace of mind for dental practices.
