Chairside Zirconia Powered by Roland DGA

Dental professionals now have a new solution at their fingertips with the introduction of Chairside Zirconia Powered by Roland DGA. This innovative product, fully compatible with the DGSHAPE DWX-42W Series wet-milling solutions, is set to transform the landscape of dental restorations by enabling same-day chairside zirconia restorations through a streamlined workflow of prep, scan, mill, and seat, according to a press release from Roland DGA. Available immediately through authorized Roland DGA dental resellers, Chairside Zirconia aims to redefine the possibilities for clinical dental professionals. Diverging from conventional monolithic dry-milled zirconia materials, this product boasts an exclusive 3-layer gradient design (25% Incisal, 25% Transition, and 50% Dentin), providing enhanced restorative esthetics with natural translucency, per the press release. This design is achieved without compromising the optimal zirconia strength properties vital for durable dental restorations. Said to be one of the most significant advantages of Chairside Zirconia is its multi-layered composition, eliminating the need for sintering or additional finishing. This means no requirement for a sintering or ceramic oven, simplifying the process for dental practitioners. With an average flexural strength of 500 MPa without firing, Chairside Zirconia is said to outperform traditional lithium disilicate milling blocks, which only achieve an average of 364 MPa after firing and crystallization. Moreover, Chairside Zirconia's coarse microstructure, combined with its fracture toughness and low scratch hardness, facilitates superior milling capabilities and results. Clocking in at approximately 4.0 µm, nearly 4 times greater than the average traditional zirconia milling puck, its specific particle structure and density allow it to be designed specifically for wet-milling. Chairside Zirconia is suited for single-unit, anterior, and posterior restorations, and is available in various shades and milling block sizes. It is seamlessly compatible with Roland DGA’s DGSHAPE DWX-42W Series Chairside wet-milling solutions and ZGB-125D, ZGB-50D, ZGB25D, and ZGB2-75D milling tools. For those eager to embrace the technology, a Chairside Zirconia Powered by Roland DGA “Starter Kit” is on offer, including zirconia blocks in 2 different shades, 3 ZGB milling tools, and Polishing Paste.

[Dental Laser]

Solea Protect

Convergent Dental, the manufacturer of the Solea® All-Tissue Dental Laser, has announced the commercial launch of Solea Protect, a new application for the Solea laser designed to help reduce mineral loss in dental enamel, protecting teeth against acid attack and caries development. This new application for the Solea laser is the result of decades of research in caries prevention using CO2 lasers. The treatment uses the Solea laser's novel 9.3-micron wavelength to gently heat the surface of tooth enamel, removing impurities that can weaken teeth. This process is designed to create a strong, crystal-like tooth structure that is more resistant to decay. When used in combination with fluoride, Solea Protect reduces mineral loss up to 6 times more than fluoride alone, according to the manufacturer. The Solea laser— now with the addition of the Solea Protect treatment—is designed to enable clinicians to offer both a unique preventative treatment and an anxiety-free experience when dental restorative work is required.

[CAD Software]

Clinux CAD
Described as the first-ever, cloud-based CAD software designed for dentists, Clinux CAD has expanded its range of capabilities and now allows users to mix and match the optimal design method on a tooth-by-tooth basis. The 3 new innovations designed to expand the possibilities for customers include new inlay/only indications, a new margin function tool, and a pay-per export license option. With clinicians having a growing desire to 3D print their inlays and onlays, Clinux CAD’s new indication is said to deliver comfort to users with a familiar workflow, as with crowns, and where multiple unit designs, even in opposing quadrants, are fully supported. Additionally, users of Clinux CAD will now find a fully functioning semi-automatic margin finder when doing their next case. This feature allows a clinician to quickly complete the margin process, tracing the cursor and finding the shortest distance along an edge. With the pay-per export license option, access and use of Clinux CAD is allowed, with users paying only when a design is exported. This newly available license is in addition to monthly, annual, or a 5-year license option, where all exports are unlimited, and are purchased in blocks of credits with the cost based on the volume of credits purchased, the company states. Clinux says the clinical convenience of the innovations allows users to mix and match the optimal design method on a tooth-by-tooth basis.
