Hu-Friedy’s Empowerment Kit Instrument Set designed to complement dental power therapies

Article

Hu-Friedy, a global leader in dental instrument manufacturing and infection prevention solutions, announced the launch of the Empowerment Kit, a new set of hand scalers designed specifically to enhance the effectiveness of ultrasonic and AIRFLOW®1 treatment protocol to deliver optimal clinical outcomes.

Different power therapies are becoming an increasingly popular method for calculus removal; however, hand scaling remains necessary as a final step to ensure the complete and effective removal of calculus from all tooth surfaces. The Empowerment Kit is a set of uniquely designed instruments that are optimized for detection and removal of residual calculus from hard to reach interproximal and subgingival areas. It is the first set of instruments that specifically support ultrasonic scaling and AIRFLOW.

“At Hu-Friedy we are committed to helping dental professionals perform at their best. As ultrasonic scaling and AIRFLOW become more prevalent in routine hygiene procedures, we identified a need for a set of instruments that support clinicians who utilize these different power therapies,” said Stacie Barth, vice president, Hu-Friedy. “Each instrument was carefully selected to better facilitate access to difficult to reach areas of the mouth, and using the Empowerment Kit in combination with power therapy ensures clinically optimal patient care.”

The Empowerment Scalers feature blades that are on average 10% thinner, with the clinically proven sharp cutting edge of EVEREDGE 2.0, facilitating easier access to subgingival and interproximal surfaces of the tooth.

Instruments included within the set are color coded to easily identify the scalers and curettes that correspond to specific anatomical areas of the mouth and tooth surface. This maximizes efficiency by reducing the time spent identifying different working ends. Clinicians can continue to move at the same fast pace they are accustomed to when using power therapies.

The Empowerment Kit is designed to be used for any preventive and hygiene procedures following preliminary treatment using ultrasonic scaling and AIRFLOW. Each standard kit comes with seven scalers and an explorer, housed in an Infinity Series® Cassette with an additional accessory area to store an AIRFLOW handpiece or similar power instruments. Clinicians can also customize their Empowerment Kit to best suit their needs, with 11 different Empowerment Scalers to choose from.

The Empowerment Kit is immediately available for sale in the United States from authorized Hu-Friedy representatives or dental distributors. For more information on the Empowerment Kit, including how to order, dental professionals should contact their Hu-Friedy representative or visit Hu-Friedy.com/EmpowermentKit.
