Henry Schein Dental unveiled its "Total Health Beyond the Mouth"  program at the Nov. 27-30, Greater New York Dental Meeting.

Schein is providing a "Total Health Checklist" form to be given to each patient when they come in for appointments and they also receive a brochure to read about various healh-related issues like periodontal disease, oral cancer, sleep disorders, heart disease and diabetes. The company is only charging to cover the cost to print the brochures and forms and will not profit from them, according to Jen MCGuire, field marketing manager for Henry Schein.

The concept is to get the patients more vested in their appointments and to connect other health-related problems to their oral health. Schein also is working with the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health for the program.
