Dr. Nancy Norling started her professional life as a dental hygienist. She followed her passion when she decided to pursue a doctorate in dentistry. Committed to providing the latest advances in restorative and cosmetic dentistry for her patients in Minneapolis, Minn., and all over the country, she has continued to pursue advanced education.

She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Level II Post-Graduate Esthetic Continuum and has had countless hours of continuing education through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Seattle study group and other programs throughout the country. She earned her AACD accreditation in 2004 and became an accredited fellow this year.

“Going through the journey of becoming an accredited fellow has been the biggest accomplishment in my professional career and has had huge impact on my dentistry  today,” she said.

Nancy’s desire to help people, along with her artistic ability, has gone to help domestic violence victims regain their smiles. She got involved in the Give Back A Smile program through the AACD.

“I am able to restore teeth, restore smiles, and in doing so, often change lives,” Nancy said. “The way I see it, you never know when you just might be the answer to someone’s prayer.”

She also recently started doing mission trips to Guatemala.

“I came back from Guatemala a different person,” Nancy said. “My eyes and heart were opened, and in a selfish way, I feel like I gained so much more than I was able to give.”

Going from being a hygienist to a dentist was a challenge for Nancy who nonetheless took a leap of faith. She would advise others to follow their dreams, too.

“I hope to follow my passion as long as I live,” she said. “We all need something to believe in and to know that we are needed in this world.”
