World Oral Health Day took place on March 20th, and Dentsply Sirona has a number of initiatives to celebrate oral health throughout the coming weeks.
Dentsply Sirona celebrated and continues to celebrate 2023 World Oral Health Day (WOHD) with a variety of activities. WOHD, which took place on March 20th, aims to increase awareness around the importance of maintaining good oral health. Partnering with FDI World Dental Federation, Dentsply Sirona campaigned with a theme– “Be Proud of Your Mouth–Look after your oral health for a lifetime of smiles.” With this theme in mind, Dentsply Sirona’s WOHD activities focus on lifelong oral health, according to a press release from the company. The patient education efforts and a social media campaign began on March 20th and will continue through the following days.
“We are proud to continue our support for WOHD for a second year,” Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, and Head of Sustainability at Dentsply Sirona, Erania Brackett says in the press release. “The aim of the day aligns fully with our own sustainability strategy BEYOND, especially our goal of creating 25 million health smiles by 2025. Let’s all work together to improve oral health globally and bring many more smiles to people near and far.”
As a part of this support, Dentsply Sirona has created a toolkit to help health care professionals educate patients on the importance of oral health. They expect to release this toolkit in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom by the end of April 2023, per the press release. Later this year, Dentsply Sirona will launch an internal dental check-up fundraiser, valuing every employee’s scheduled dental appointments. The donations from this will go directly to Dentsply Sirona’s partner and cleft surgery charity Smile Train.
Finally, Dentsply Sirona has sponsored the “Most original activity” award. Starting after the 20th, student associations can submit their WOHD activity report until the end of April. Those that have successfully demonstrated a unique and interesting promotion of oral health messaging will be shortlisted for the award. Winners will be announced at the FDI World Dental Congress in Sydney, Australia in September 2023.
