Dentsply Siorna presents new line of Orthophos x-ray units

Article

Dentsply Sirona introduces its new line of x-ray units, Orthophos E, Orthophos S, and the Orthophos SL.

Dentsply Sirona introduced its new line of x-ray units during the Dentsply Sirona World 2019 in Las Vegas. The new generation of machines, Orthophos E, Orthophos S, and the Orthophos SL, each offer a range of features allowing the clinician to image, diagnose, and treat (IDT),  Dentsply Sirona said in a press release.

“With IDT, practitioners can expand their treatment procedures into implantology, endodontics, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and orthodontics,” said Dentsply Sirona Director of Equipment and Technology, Javid Tokhi, “and with several enhanced features, the Orthophos Systems boast peace of mind to both the practice and the patient, ensuring confidence through accurate and fast scans.”

Orthophos E offers panoramic, pediatric panoramic, bitewing and other exposure programs, the statement said. The MultiPad allows users the selection of the program close to the patient and a motorized forehead and temple system steadies the patient while the temple width measurement allows for automatic selection for the perfect orbital curve.

Orthophos S is a flexible 2D/3D option. This unit can be used as a pure 2D or as a combined 2D/3D device. The cephalometric arm makes the unit suitable for orthodontic practices, Dentsply Sirona said. Orthophos S uses an autofocus feature to accomplish contrast in panoramic images.

Finally, the Orthophos SL is a complete diagnostic key for digital imaging, the company said. The SL unit uses Direct Conversion Sensor and Sharp Layer technology to cater to every users’ need in their daily practices. Patients are automatically positioned with the use of the auto-positioner. Metal Artifact Reduction Software (MARS) lowers artifacts for the best image interpretation by automatically detecting metals in each volume, the statement said.

Additionally, each unit is integrated with the Sidexis 4 imaging software.
