Penn Dental Medicine’s Center for Integrative Global Oral Health (CIGOH) has announced a partnership with Cochrane Oral Health. Through this partnership, they’ve formed the Cochrane Oral Health Collaborating Center at Penn Dental Medicine to expand evidence-based knowledge for practices and policy, according to a press release from the groups. Cochrane Oral Health is part of Cochrane, which is a global health network that reviews across ranges of medicine. Its main mission is to help inform decisions about health care, according to a press release from Penn Dental Medicine.

With this partnership, the Cochrane Oral Health Collaborating Center at Penn Dental Medicine aims to generate these systematic reviews on oral health to help clinicians, patients, and more make the best decisions on their oral health protocol. All reviews, updates, and protocols will be published through the Cochrane Library, including those produced in the Collaborating Center at Penn Dental medicine.

Penn Dental Medicine and Cochrane Oral Health Center hope to expand and transform evidence-based clinical care, according to Director of the Cochrane Oral Health Collaborating Center at Penn Dental Medicine, Dr Alonso Carrasco-Labra.

“This partnership places Penn Dental Medicine at the center of the oral-health-evidence-synthesis filed globally and aligns with the School’s mission to transform global oral health and wellbeing through exceptional clinical care, innovation, education, and research.” Dr Carrasco-Labra says in the press release.

The new center will be hosting its first workshop on conducting and publishing systematic reviews and meta-analysis from June 5, 2023 through June 9, 2023. This workshop will be hosted by CIGOH faculty and Cochrane Health colleagues in the United Kingdom.
