Catching Up on Dental CAD/CAM’s Cutting Edge

Article

CAD/CAM technology continues to advance, making new same-day and single-visit services possible for dentists ready to embrace digital dentistry.

The concept of providing a patient with a crown in just one hour once seemed like a flight of fancy, but it’s now a reality for dental practices working with the latest dental CAD/CAM systems.

Dental practices are back to work, and many are as busy, or busier, than ever before. Treatment efficiency is almost as important as treatment efficacy, and patients are excited about the prospect of a single appoint for a treatment that once required multiple office visits. CAD/CAM technology such as the CEREC System from Dentsply Sirona is a big part of making dentistry more convenient for patients. These technologies eliminate many analog processes which can reduce errors as well as the number of appointments necessary to complete some treatments. Those appointments that are no longer necessary are certainly convenient for patients, but they also open a practice up to treat additional patients.

Eliminating extra appointments and shortening treatment times is especially important for dental practices as they recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fewer appointments for a patient means less time in an environment with a high risk for cross contamination, and if can also save practices money as it can reduce the need for extra personal protective equipment that would be required for a short crown seating appointment.

A Dental Products Report® eBook, sponsored by Dentsply Sirona, looks at the capabilities of innovative CAD/CAM mills, intraoral scanners, and digital dental software applications. Featuring input and advice from Karyn Halpern, DMD, MS, and Mike Skramstad, DDS, the eBook showcases the benefits of the latest dental technology and walks through the workflows for 90-minute and 60-minute crown appointments.R

Read the eBook for an update on what cutting edge CAD/CAM equipment can bring to your practice and patients.
