Carestream Dental Ensures Operations for Sensei Users Amidst Healthcare Partner Outage

In the face of a nationwide security incident that led Change Healthcare to temporarily shut down its systems, Carestream Dental took action to mitigate the impact on its users. Carestream Dental's Patient Solutions, encompassing eClaims, ePrescriptions, eVerifications, Automated Statements, and ePostings, are vital components in facilitating various essential functions for dental practitioners, per a press release from the company.

As the incident unfolded, Carestream Dental's IT security team conducted a thorough risk assessment and confirmed that the breach had not extended to its own systems. The company remains vigilant, continuously monitoring for any signs of compromise, per the press release.

While some healthcare providers advised against submitting claims during the outage, Carestream Dental managed to reroute claims through its own clearing house. Currently, over 97% of dental claims are being successfully processed, with additional payers continually being integrated into the system. The company swiftly restored insurance verifications, leveraging its proprietary system.

Monica Minore, General Manager of Sensei, emphasized the company's commitment to prioritizing customer support. "Our first priority was helping our customers get paid, so they could focus on patients," she stated in the press release.

To provide users with consistent updates, Carestream Dental has created a centralized webpage where dental practices can stay informed about the status of their solutions. This platform offers valuable insights, including a growing list of payers capable of processing claims, alternative solutions, and tips for managing prescriptions, handling EOBs, and sending patient statements.

Users can also subscribe to specific product updates on the Status Update Page or engage with fellow users through the newly established Sensei User Discussion group on Facebook.
