Anthem Blue Cross recently launched a new Dental Patient Health History tool that provides dentists with access to integrated, real-time patient health histories.
The new system is designed to facilitate co-management of chronic conditions across different health specialies while improving patient experiences and cutting costs for both practices and patients, according to a press release. The tool allows dental providers to access patient information including prescriptions, medical diagnoses, lab test results, and care gap alerts in order to assist dentists with identifying health risks and preventing complications related to patients receiving care from different providers.
The secure tool is HIPAA compliant, and includes access to ICD-10 codes along with explanations to help dentists gain a deeper understanding of the medical coding system. The tool is available to dentists in Anthem's preferred provider organization network, and is said to be the only available solution of its kind.
