Advancing the Vision at Yankee Dental Congress® 2020

Article

BOSTON-Jan. 30, 2020-Yankee Dental Congress® 2020 (Yankee) kicks off this morning at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Yankee, which is New England’s largest dental meeting, runs through February 1 and is presented by the Massachusetts Dental Society in cooperation with the dental societies of Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

At least 26,000 dental health professionals and guests from around the United States are expected to attend this year’s event.

“We are proud that the Yankee Dental Congress draws so many dental professionals to Boston year after year,” said MDS President Dr. Janis Moriarty. “We strive to create an exceptional learning and networking experience, so they are excited to attend every winter.”

This year’s Yankee theme, “Advancing the Vision,” exemplifies how dental professionals are able to gain insight on evolving trends and future best practices by attending continuing education (CE) courses taught by industry experts and visiting more than 400 exhibitors demonstrating the most innovative dental technology.

Educational Highlights

Yankee 2020 offers more than 300 CE and hands-on courses and events presented by leading experts in the dental profession.

Along with endodontic, pediatric, prosthodontic, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and orthodontic specialty symposia held at Yankee, the Sixth Annual Interprofessional Symposium will focus on practice models that blend oral and systemic health.

Yankee is once again featuring education pavilions located on the Exhibit Hall Floor, with innovative courses held at no charge to attendees. A new Pediatric Pavilion is offering sold-out courses on a diverse range of pediatric topics, while a new Product Spotlight Lounge will help attendees make highly educated purchases with one-hour product spotlight sessions.

With the passage of the American Dental Association policy statement on the role of dentists in the treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders, it is now recommended that all dentists screen their patient population for sleep disorders. The Dental Sleep Apnea Team will offer Yankee attendees a series of courses on how to screen patients and launch a dental sleep medicine practice.

Another new feature of this year’s conference is Yankee Expert Insights, which offers attendees the opportunity to join industry leaders and colleagues for one-hour, small, and informal group discussions on topics including hygiene, orofacial pain, and buying or starting a practice.

Yankee also features a special track of courses for new dentists designed to help them learn from experienced practitioners and network with their peers.

Other highlights include courses on:

  • Digital dentistry and technological advancements, including lasers, intraoral scanners, and 3D printing

  • Understanding autism spectrum disorders and caring for patients with special needs

  • HPV and implications for dentistry

  • Nutrition and lifestyle choices for chronic inflammation

  • Cannabis culture and dentistry

Exhibits

Yankee’s Exhibit Hall features more than 400 exhibitors showcasing a wide range of new dental products and technologies-from the latest toothbrushes, toothpastes, mouth rinses, and oral hygiene products for consumers to dental office chairs, lasers, X-ray machines, cameras, and CAD/CAM systems for 3D printing.

Yankee by the Numbers

  • Approximately 26,000 attendees (dentists, hygienists, assistants, technicians, office personnel, dental students, exhibitors, and guests)

  • 300+ continuing education courses

  • 452 exhibitors

  • 91,000 square feet of exhibit space
