Stay passionate. It’s easy to get into a rut, to just go about your day-to-day routine without that passion you felt when you first started practicing. But if you’re not passionate about what you do, it will show in your work and the way you interact with your patients and your staff, and that may be just enough to send some patients looking for a new dentist.

So what can you do to keep that passion alive, even well into your career? You can start by making sure you have the right work/life balance

Dentistry can’t be all you do; you need to have a life outside of dental, said Penny Reed Limoli, owner of the Reed Limoli Group. Letting your career take over your life will only lead to stress and burnout, and that’s not good for you, your staff or your patients.

You have to make time for family and friends, and all those non-related work activities you enjoy. Find a hobby and develop a skill that has nothing to do with dental-enjoy your time away from the office and remember your life and your work doesn’t just come down to productivity and profit. Keeping that balance will not only make you and your patients happier, it will likely make you more successful.

Your patients are your practice. Without them, where would you be? You have to know the best ways to attract them to your practice, get them to accept treatment and make them happy, life-long patients.

That’s where we can help. Check back regularly for tips on how to keep your patients happy, healthy and loyal.
