Ivoclar Vivadent's new universal stain and glaze system is designed for efficiency

Article

Ivoclar Vivadent has announced IPS Ivocolor, a universal stain and glaze system designed for efficiency.

Ivoclar Vivadent has introduced IPS Ivocolor, a new range of universal stains and glazes. This universal system can be used with all ceramics, metal ceramics and zirconia. (Not for use with uncrystallized (Blue-state) IPS e.max® CAD)

Ivoclar Vivadent offers various ceramic systems, and until now every system came with its own range of characterization materials. This new range of materials combines the properties of the IPS stain and glaze systems and reportedly enhances them by providing more versatility in a single assortment. The new system is designed to increase economic efficiency in the laboratory, but the materials themselves give dental technicians the tools to produce the ultimate in life-like restorations.

A key advancement is the new glaze system, which allows technicians to retain surface texture even with a high gloss. The grey or white discoloration that can happen after the first firing is also a thing of the past. Technicians can combine shades and customize the materials to do exactly what is needed for each individual case. The new low-fusing glass composition also fires at temperatures of 710°C and higher and spans across a CTE range of 9.5-16.6 making it suitable for high and low-fusing ceramic materials.

The system consists of shade materials for shading the restorations in accordance with the A-D shade guide and Essence materials that are mixed with liquids to produce Effect stains. The Shades and Essences also contain fluorescent particles to bring life to restorations.
