Dentsply Sirona introduces Cercon® xt

Article

The new extra-translucent zirconia material is now available to dental laboratories.

The new extra-translucent zirconia material Cercon® xt is an additional variant of Dentsply Sirona's successful ceramics system. Its main application is said to be for monolithic restorations with enhanced esthetics.

The Cercon xt reportedly now offers even higher translucency - about 19 percent more than Cercon ht. Especially in monolithic restorations, this is said to translate directly into enhanced esthetics. And when it comes to veneering, dental technicians still have all design options open to them. Cercon xt is engineered to be suitable for crowns and up to three-unit bridges up to the second premolar - an additional material option.

Thanks to its extra high translucency (approx. 49 precent) and reportedly unparalleled shade accuracy, this new material is designed to allow for life-like esthetics, especially for the anterior region. Cercon xt is said to represent a serious alternative to convention lithium disilicate. The choice of the most suitable material will depend on the merits of the clinical case, the specific indication and the preferred adhesive system.

True Color Technology is engineered to provide excellent shade fidelity and admirable reproducibility. And as with Cercon ht, the Cercon xt discs are available as pre-shaded blanks in the classic 16 VITA1 shades and white. For the laboratory, the “dentin from the machine” is designed to be a highly esthetic - and highly economical - material to use.

Thanks to its standard format (98 mm discs), the new product is engineered to be used in all popular open CAD/CAM systems. Additionally, Cercon ht and Cercon xt reportedly can be sintered using the same temperature for efficiency in processing.
