Rapid developments in technology, lower costs and more compact designs have made dental lasers more attractive to practices. Systems that were previously bulky are now available in smaller, more portable models. Many are similar in structure to a dental handpiece. The latest models also use modern fiber-optic delivery systems.

Another reason for growth is an overall global increase in the importance of oral hygiene coupled with rising disposable income in North America. In addition, the rising middle-class population, growing aging population, reduced treatment time and operating cost and increased demand for cosmetic dentistry are also major growth factors.
