After car crash and funny TV interview, Australian media focus on this man's missing teeth. Everyone knows a great smile helps with both appearance and with how you are perceived by most people. Shiny, functioning teeth can also help with self-esteem and quality of life. But the opposite is also true. Someone missing teeth might be perceived as unhappy or troubled, but that may not always be the case.
Everyone knows a great smile helps with both appearance and with how you are perceived by most people.
Shiny, functioning teeth can also help with self-esteem and quality of life.
But the opposite is also true. Someone missing teeth might be perceived as unhappy or troubled, but that may not always be the case.
Take the case of this Australian “hero” who was interviewed after a car crashed into his neighbor’s pad. Daniel McConnell presided to give a humorous, informative interview following the incident. After the car crashed and damaged his neighbor’s business, McConnell chased down the driver while wearing nothing but his “jocks.”

The reports out of Australia credit McConnell, a “legend”, with great story telling abilities and with giving the “local TV interview of the year.”
But the fact that McConnell is missing some teeth is perceived to be just as important as this story. The headline refers to him as the “Toothless Australian Man” and later suggests he may not be capable of “eating an apple.”

And as important as your smile is, it’s also important to remember that perception does not always tell the full story.
