Scripps Center for Dental Care is a unique, multi-specialty group practice where owner and director Dr. John Weston and his team have been beta testing the new 3M True Definition Scanner for the past five months.

Dr. Weston began doing digital impressions four years ago when 3M came out with its first scanner.

"It's been a success ever since," said Dr. Weston. "What it did for me is simplify the impressioning process. Instead of using rubber and trays, I'm able to do it all digitally and get it to the lab and get back a restoration that fits perfectly."

Scripps Center for Dental Care got the True Definition Scanner five months ago and Dr. Weston describes the transition as seamless.

"The new scanner is even better than the original," explained Dr. Weston.

According to Dr. Weston, one of the main benefits of the new scanner is the small and light wand. It's easy to handle and very reliable.

"It will withstand a drop to the floor," said Dr. Weston. "You can dunk it in water and it doesn't need to be calibrated."

Dr. Weston attributes his improved efficiency to the True Definition Scanner because he isn't forced to redo restorations or make constant adjustments.

"You can shorten your delivery time," said Dr. Weston. "Time is money. If you can do things faster and more reliably your patients benefit and you benefit."
