Dental Lab Products looks at what to do and see at the 2016 Chicago meetings (Chicago Midwinter Meeting, LMT Lab Day, Spectrum Day and Cal-Lab) to make sure you're seeing the most game-changing innovations.

It's almost that time again: dental tradeshow and conference season is about to hit Chicago! To help get you ready, our editors compiled this list of 10 things to see and do in the Windy City this year. Whether you're only going to one event or to all four, we're sure there's something here for you!

1. Check out some Lab Day courses

Feb. 26 and 27 is LMT Lab Day at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. In addition to the bustling show floor (see No. 9 on this list!), you also have the chance to attend some of the many courses, presentations or hands-on learning experiences on offer. From the cutting-edge to the traditional, you’ll be able to learn something at one of these events that will help your lab head into 2016 with confidence.

2. Take notes at Spectrum Day’s removable program

On Feb. 26, you’ll be able to learn all about the latest and the most cutting-edge solutions and techniques when it comes to dentures and removables. Some of the leading providers of excellent removable products and equipment will show off their latest innovations at Spectrum Day.

3. Get an update on regulatory standards

On Feb. 25 from 10:45-11:30 a.m. at Cal-Lab, Bennett Napier, CAE and chief staff executive of the National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL), will present the latest updates in regulatory standards. With new FDA guidelines on everyone’s mind, this will be a session not to miss if you’re attending Cal-Lab.

4. Visit NADL WinterDaze

The NADL also provides an entire day of educational courses at LMT Lab Day. From FDA updates to the latest in implant techniques and digital technology, you can earn CE credit. Plus, all funds from the day’s courses go to the Foundation for Dental Laboratory Technology, which was formed to help support grant programs for schools, education and certification.

6. Take a course in CAD/CAM restorations at Chicago Midwinter

On Feb. 25, at the Midwinter meeting, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., you can attend a course called “CAD/CAM Restorations for Teeth & Implants: Better than Hand-Made?” Dr. Jonathan Ferencz, DDS, explores how digital technology changes the dental workflow. This course is cosponsored by the American College of Prosthotdontists.

7. Check out Spectrum Day’s techno-clinical program

On Feb. 26, learn how digital technology changes the way lab work is done and what kind of lab is possible. You’ll hear from some of the leading voices in the dental lab industry, and you’ll see firsthand some of the new possibilities that exist thanks to the cutting-edge technology on display at all of the Chicago events.

8. Learn “The State of the Dental Lab Industry” with Dr. Gordon Christensen

In this keynote speech closing out Cal-Lab on Feb. 26 (12:30-1:30 p.m.), Dr. Christensen will explore some of the leading trends impacting dental laboratories. As always, his insights will surely be engaging and thought-provoking.

9. Explore the Lab Day show floor

The biggest lab show of the year will be held in its new spot for the second year in a row: the Hyatt Regency on Wacker Drive. The show floor will no doubt be the place to see some of the latest and greatest new developments in the dental lab world. Plus, some of the leading innovators in the industry will show off their newest offerings in suites and meeting rooms around the show floor. If you want to see what will make waves in your lab in 2016, this is the place to be.

10. Settle the pizza debate once and for all
