These are said to be the first and only 100% non-plastic toothpaste tubes packaged in sustainable aluminum with a recyclable metal cap.
Poppits, LLC has released what are said to be the first 100% plastic-free toothpaste tubes. Popgel toothpaste is available in 3 anti-cavity fluoride flavors, including cooling Cucumber Spearmint Whitening, Peppermint Super Whitening, and Mild Mint Sensitive Kind.
These toothpastes were designed by a dentist, according to a press release from Poppits, and are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The whitening toothpaste gels are free of SLS, triclosan, artificial preservatives, parabens, and microplastics. These are said to be the first and only 100% non-plastic toothpaste tubes packaged in sustainable aluminum with a recyclable metal cap.
About 1.5 billing or 8 million tons of plastic toothpaste tubes made of multi-layer, non-recyclable plastics are dumped in landfills and oceans every year, according to Poppits’ press release. It’s said to take 500 years for them to biodegrade, and by 2050, plastic will likely outweigh all fish in the sea.
