Video Transcript

Kelly Tanner, PhD, RDH: Hi I'm Dr. Kelly Tanner reporting on what I saw what I learned at ADHA annual session this year, that momentous 100th year anniversary of ADHA.

Tina Clarke, RDH, MEd: It was a fantastic event

Kelly Tanner, PhD, RDH: Something new this year that I learned at ADHA was how far diagnostic testing has come along for oral cancer, periodontal disease and other genetic testing.

Tina Clarke, RDH, MEd: A cool thing that I learned about is salivary diagnostics making these grant advances. There is a another salivary tests out there, where in office, you get these results within five minutes and it gives our patients and as I have to say, when I did the test, I was a little little nervous, it gives us an oral fitness score.

Kelly Tanner, PhD, RDH: One of the coolest things that I saw at ADHA was the night we all went out to the this amazing dance club and DJ Smiles was DJing it up like he always does. And just the energy in the room and the dancing and how much fun everyone was having that night celebrating the 100th year anniversary of ADHA.

Tina Clarke, RDH, MEd: One of the coolest things that I got to do, which you know, may not be cool to some people, but getting to snuggle with the puppies, ADHA teamed up with the local humane society and had puppies there for people to snuggle with, pet, and actually help those puppies become more socially interactive so that they can be ready to be adopted out to their full-time, long-term families.

Tina Clarke, RDH, MEd: And what surprised me so much is you know, we would be out networking and partying and dancing all night and up at it early the next morning, and everybody was still so energized and there was energy and happiness and positivity ready to start the day.

Kelly Tanner, PhD, RDH: One of my other favorite things about this year's conference is that we actually had meet up places, quiet spaces, where sponsors had blocked out or reserved a restaurant and provided refreshments for us. So we could go and meet up and link up with friends in a quieter space and connect on a more intimate level.

Kelly Tanner, PhD, RDH: I've been an ADHA member for over 20 years and have attended more than 15 years of the ADHA annual session. Always my favorite part is the connections. Seeing friends I haven't seen, laughing, learning new information from sponsors. And this year was outstanding. Thank you ADHA for a 100 year momentous occasion. And here is to 100 more.

Tina Clarke, RDH, MEd: My favorite My favorite thing about ADHA and the meeting is is those networking times but even just walking the exhibit floor, or you're out on the dance floor. It doesn't really matter but you are surrounded by like minded colleagues. You create these friendships having an opportunity to see these friends again and have a chat with them and talk about the same thing and be super excited about the same things. You know, we're all oral health geeks, and we get all excited over the new products that we're seeing or the new aspects of somebody's career and being able to see each other and support each other and dance the night away sing with the band and learn shoulder to shoulder in some of these educational courses as well. Thank you for allowing me to share my experiences about the fabulous 100 year celebration of the American Dental Hygienists Association.
