OnX Tough 2

Digital dentistry and 3D printing solutions company SprintRay Inc has introduced OnX Tough 2, a new 3D printing resin granted US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for fixed, implant-supported denture prosthetics, according to a press release from the company.OnX Tough 2 is designed to be a game-changer in the world of digital dentistry, featuring best-in-class fracture toughness and what are said to be lifelike esthetics, made possible by SprintRay's proprietary NanoFusion™ technology. This proprietary process suspends the optimal amount of ceramic in the formulation, minimizing mixing and enhancing structural integrity, according to SprintRay. The result is a resin suitable for demanding dental applications, particularly implant-supported dentures. Dentists can now utilize an integrated, streamlined 3D printing chairside workflow with OnX Tough 2, allowing them to produce full arch, fixed denture restorations with desired toughness and optimal translucency for high-quality, same-day smiles, per the press release. This innovation enables dental professionals to 3D print up to 10 fixed dentures in just 30 minutes, providing a significant leap in efficiency compared to traditional methods.OnX Tough 2 introduces a new chemistry for dentistry, with formulations available in shades Bleach, A1, and A2. These shades, combined with NanoFusion technology, enhance structural integrity and deliver high-precision shade matching and improved color stability. The fixed dentures printed with OnX Tough 2 offer optimal radiopacity for imaging diagnostics, treatment planning, and monitoring healing and progress.

VITA VIONIC® DIGITAL VIGO Denture Library
The flexible VITA VIONIC DIGITAL VIGO Denture Library works with both partial and full dentures and with milled and printed restorations. The company is revamping its denture tooth library, with 3Shape already involved and exocad to follow. As VITA reorganizes its dental database, in the future, users will be able to digitally design try-in dentures, denture bases, and teeth, and then 3D print them or mill them. The database soon will be available for the denture modules of 3Shape and exocad. Dental laboratory technicians and clinicians can choose from a total of 7 predefined setup concepts for partial and full dentures, including crossbite and the recently added setup concepts for straight setup lingualized, straight setup buccalized, and Dutch lingualized occlusion. This development means that the VITA VIONIC DIGITAL VIGO denture tooth database enables simple and time-saving digital design and manufacture using all common open CAM and 3D print systems. The denture tooth library for 3Shape became available this past summer, while VITA states it will be available soon for exocad.

Biotivity™ A/C Plus Membrane

ZimVie, a prominent global player in dental and spine solutions, has introduced its latest innovation–the Biotivity A/C Plus Membrane. This growth factor-rich membrane marks a significant expansion for ZimVie into the burgeoning growth factor biomaterials sector and is now readily available across the United States, according to a press release from ZimVie. Dental professionals often rely on bone grafting procedures, coupled with protective barrier membranes, to repair and reconstruct the jaw, laying a foundation for successful dental implant placements. ZimVie's Biotivity A/C Plus Membrane distinguishes itself by offering a novel approach to dental biomaterials, particularly by delving into the expansive growth factor segment. The membrane, designed for site coverage and protection against the oral environment, contains a rich blend of growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, and hyaluronic acid proven to facilitate optimal wound healing. Derived from human placental tissue, the Biotivity A/C Plus Membrane boasts a growth factor-charged composition. Comprising the amnion, intermediate, and chorion layers, this biomaterial undergoes minimal manipulation using proprietary processing techniques. These methods preserve natural mechanical properties, elasticity, and a host of biological enhancers, including growth factors and cytokines. The product's sterilization is ensured through the Excellion® Process and terminal sterilization with Electron-Beam irradiation. An important distinction from other A/C membranes in the market is that Biotivity A/C Plus is not treated with antibiotics during processing.
