Cadent Announces iTero Data Export to Dental Wings Lab Systems
CARLSTADT, N.J. ─ Oct. 10, 2008 ─ Cadent, the leading provider of 3-D digital solutions for the orthodontic and dental industries, today announced that digital case data from the iTero digital impression system can be exported to file formats supported by Dental Wings, a leading manufacturer of CAD systems for the dental laboratory.
From within the iTero Lab Application, data from the original data file (not a third-generation analog copy) is exported into several STL, PTS and XML files, which provide the digital model required for in-lab milling of copings and full coverage restorations as well as margin line data. These files also allow for transfer of case-specific data, including: case identification, export time, lab technician, dentist, due date, manufacturer type for export, preparation type, and material.
“iTero is an open-architecture system, enabling dental laboratories to create precise-fitting restorations from iTero-generated digital impressions in their CAD/CAM milling systems,” said Tim Mack, chief operating officer of Cadent. “We are pleased that lab facilities equipped with Dental Wings technology will be among the first to reduce the lead time and improve the accuracy of their restorations.”
“Collaborating with the Cadent iTero system strengthens the open architecture platform of the Dental Wings CAD system and provides even greater flexibility and value to our more than one hundred U.S. laboratory customers,” said Naoum Araj, chief executive officer of Dental Wings. “Distributed exclusively in the United States by Zahn Dental, a Henry Schein company, our platform includes a powerful CAD engine module which removes the laborious and repetitive processes in the design of prostheses.
“We offer our dental laboratory partners a productive environment in a completely open architecture via standard interfaces,” added Araj. “Labs are free to adapt our platform to their own business needs; they can use their own production capabilities or out-source work to their preferred production centers.”
