ADA annual session helps dentists get to know lasers Through a partnership with the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), the ADA annual session in San Antonio included a Laser Pavilion where more than 500 dentists participated in a new laser education model. The free continuing education course was part of the ADA’s Live Operatory Center, located in Hall A of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Participants were given the opportunity to get hands-on experience and to compare a variety of dental lasers. The hands-on workshop was designed for dentists considering adding a laser to their practice, or for the new laser owner. Laser pioneers, Drs. Joel White and Donald Coluzzi, conducted the course and the following manufacturers were involved: Biolase Technology, DEKA Laser Technologies, Elexxion AG, GPT Inc., Ivoclar Vivadent, KaVo Dental Corporation Inc., Sirona Dental Systems and Zap Lasers LLC. ALD Executive Director Gail Siminovsky made sure everything ran smoothly and the ALD also made available its Compendium of Laser Dentistry, a special publication featuring laser fundamentals, clinical case studies, research abstracts and other ALD information.
