Lava™ Scan ST Design System to create wax/resin patterns for casting and pressable ceramics for the EnvisionTec Digital Dental Printer (DDP).

ST. PAUL, Minn. – (October 23, 2008) – As part of a continuing effort to improve lab productivity, 3M ESPE announces compatibility of the Lava Scan ST Design System with the EnvisionTec DDP. This allows Lava Scanner owners the option to digitally design and create wax/resin patterns for metal copings and frameworks. This is the latest step in the company’s selectively open architecture strategy announced in February.

“We have seen a growing demand from laboratories for pattern generation systems such as the EnvisionTec DDP as they continue to look for ways to improve productivity,” says Wayne Roen, director of digital restorative dentistry, 3M ESPE.

Debra Williams, owner of Techsource dental laboratories adds, “Our EnvisionTec printer has given us great resin framework patterns, but the output is much better now that we can use our Lava scanner.  The resin frameworks that originated from the Lava scanner are visually superior and more precise.”
