May 6, 2009 | DentalProductsReport.com Exclusive Expanded Lava Precision Solutions to your patients
Practices capitalizing on the increased speed and accuracy of a digital workflow will get the best results by partnering with labs using similar advanced technology. Implant abutments made from Lava™ Zirconia and crowns made using the Lava Digital Veneering System (DVS) are the latest material advancements supported by the new Lava Design Software 5.0 and the Lava CNC 500 Milling Machine that help labs achieve that next level. Porcelain support: Lava Design Software 5.0 now enables full contour restoration design by automatically cutting back to produce an anatomically shaped coping or framework to support porcelain work. Veneering revolution: Scheduled for release later this year, the Lava DVS is both a material set and a restoration procedure offering Lava CAD/CAM precision for porcelain work. The esthetic restorations are made of three precisely controlled layers—the zirconia coping, the fusion porcelain and the glass ceramic material—to mirror natural esthetics. Lava Zirconia DV Crowns are produced on the new Lava CNC 500 milling machine, which mills the glass ceramic block in addition to other assorted materials. Smarter productivity: The Lava CNC 500 milling machine can run for 76 hours straight and performs “smart” milling by intuitively converting to either 3-axis milling or 5-axis milling for full contouring, undercuts and abutments. Soon labs with the Lava CNC 500 milling machine will also be able to produce the porcelain work with a glass ceramic block that is part of Lava DVS. New Materials: The new Lava wax block can be used to create wax patterns for metal restorations. The 60-mm block is made with industrial wax, making it simple to wax-up and rework the pattern, while the two new “extra large” sizes of Lava zirconia blocks will make taller single units and longer-span bridges possible. Added plus: Software updates allow improved virtual design and modification along with the ability to draw from a library of abutment shapes and implant systems to create natural-looking custom implant abutments with shaded Lava zirconia.
