Max milling modus

Faster production, new milling materials.

Information provided by 3M ESPE.

3M ESPE’s new Lava™ CNC 500 milling machine helps labs become a more versatile source of CAD/CAM milling. With the new “smart” milling capability, the CNC 500 machine knows when to perform 5-axis milling for complex indications, such as undercuts or intricate final contouring, and abutments then converts to 3-axis milling at the appropriate time. Along with its “smart” axis milling, the machine can be programmed to run for 76 hours straight, allowing labs to increase productivity. The CNC 500 machine can also mill multiple materials without stopping to change tools. With the new Lava Design 5.0 software, labs will be equipped for full-contour design. In addition to Lava zirconia, the CNC 500 machine will mill new material options scheduled for release later this year, including the Lava Wax block, the Lava Multi XL block, and the Lava DVS block, a new glass ceramic overlay material option for a more automated final contour over zirconia.

Features

  • Can be programmed to run for 76 hours straight
  • “Smart” milling system with capability to mill with 3-axis speed and precision or 5-axis for complex situations when needed
  • Load and unload a variety of frame types without interrupting milling process—up to 21 frames with an average of 10 units per frame
  • Mills multiple materials without stopping to change tools for non-stop operation
  • Sensor detects incorrect placement of tools
  • Operates with touchscreen control center instead of keyboard
  • Robust, reliable design eliminates need for spring retainers; has a window to easily view stage in production cycle
  • Integrated suction system reduces dust and avoids contamination
  • Consumes less energy than previous milling machine

The CNC 500 offers versatile CAD/CAM milling and a higher level of automation with its 3- or 5-axis “smart” milling.

Easily change the tool portfolio to fit a variety of materials and indications to allow for long, automatic run times and little downtime.

Access needed information more quickly than using a keyboard with the convenient touchscreen control center.
